Saudi government recently imposed the restriction on issuing mobile phone sim card without biometric process.This decision was taken by the CITC last year, but its implementation took time because of not having the fingerprint registration devices from abroad.Saudi government has taken this step to bring peace in the country and prevent phone and other crimes to happen.
Prepaid and Postpaid users
The previous last date for prepaid users was till 4-June 2016 and for postpaid users 2 July 2016.Now this date is furtherly extended to 20 July 2016.Therefore all users of prepaid and postpaid are advised to get registered in this grace period of 6 days.
The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has said that anyone who fails to do that by july 20 would result in services being suspended for a particular SIM card.
The CITC has been also informing subscribers of the various telecom operators in KSA about the deadline through messages.In a previous announcement, the CITC said that failure to update during the suspension period will entail final cut of services.The rule will cover for both postpaid and prepaid SIM cards, reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
All cellular network companies like STC, Mobily, Zain, Bravo, Virgin are bounded to complete the process 100% with accuracy and implementation of finger impressions machine in all sale offices. This also applies to Data sim card.
